Michael Hewett started Sarva Yoga Academy out of a deep sense of gratitude and respect
for the power of the ancient practices and the teachers who dedicated their lives to passing wisdom on
to future generations. His reason for founding Sarva Yoga Academy is to share with students the knowledge
and practices of his lineage so they are empowered to help the most people in the shortest time possible
while transmuting every moment of their life into spiritual practice.

Michael Hewett was born and raised in southeastern Pennsylvania. He attended
Berklee College of Music on scholarship as one of the college’s youngest students. After graduating,
he moved to New York in 1995 and quickly realized that remaining sane here would mean finding an
authentic and all encompassing practice. Sensing his need, a drummer friend gave Michael Autobiography
of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda. A few days after devouring the book he found a teacher in
Yogananda’s lineage... teaching a few blocks from his apartment.

Over the past 13 years, Michael has studied with Alan Finger, Cyndi Lee,
David Nichtern, Sharon Gannon and David Life. In 2004, he met his root teachers, Geshe Michael Roach
and Lama Christie McNally, and began studying Tibetan Buddhism in the lineage of His Holiness
the Dalai Lama. Geshe Michael Roach and Lama Christie McNally have studied extensively in the renowned
Sera Mey and Gyume Tantric College monasteries of India. They’ve preserved, translated and passed this
lineage to Michael’s close teachers Kimberley Theresa, John Brady, Douglass Veenhof and Winston
McCullough. And it’s through their kindnesses that Michael has been empowered to study, practice and
teach the scriptures and techniques of the great Indian Mahasiddhas and Tibetan Dalai Lamas.

The driving force behind Michael’s personal practice and teachings is the first vow taken
by practitioners when they’re granted permission to study Tantra, the higher secret teachings of
Tibetan Buddhism:

‘I swear to make sincere efforts to combine
mind and body practices (inner and outer methods)
to achieve enlightenment as quickly as possible
for the sake of all beings.’

Michael has been teaching yoga and dharma full time since 1997. Reflecting his extensive
training and creativity, Michael’s heat-building vinyasa classes emphasize breath, mediation
and yogic philosophy.

Michael Hewett is an internationally acclaimed composer, guitarist and recording artist.

Dushan Zaric is a successful business owner, entrepreneur, author, father and husband.
He has been practicing the Fourth Way for ten years and teaching for four in an authentic
lineage that comes straight from G.I. GURDJIEFF. Dushan was 29 years old when he met his teacher
Gilbert John Barretto. In 2000 he delved into The Fourth Way, an ancient teaching which was
formulated and brought to the west by Mr. Gurdjieff.

Dushan teaches the ideas of the Fourth Way as they correspond with the Tibetan Buddhist
and Indian Yogic sources. He will approach these ideas from a western psychological view while
sharing practical exercises for daily life. The exercises are given in order to learn how to
understand and develop presence and will, alter one's level of awareness at any time, and how to
observe oneself in real time so that physical, emotional and intellectual needs are balanced
and transcended.

Douglas Veenhof spent his early life in the American mid-West, attending Washington High School in
Sioux Falls, SD and St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. From there he set forth on the first of his many
expeditions: hitchhiking for three years throughout the West. He eventually settled in Washington state's
sublimely beautiful Methow Valley in the North Cascades, where he built custom homes; directed backcountry
hiking trips; taught rock, snow and ice climbing; and guided private clients on custom treks through the
Canadian Rockies, Alps and Himalayas.

In 1991, he completed a degree in Editorial Journalism at the University of Washington's School of
Communications and began covering the Washington State Legislature as a correspondent for the daily
newspaper, The Wenatchee World, and covered Seattle City Hall for a local wire service.

Meditation and the study of Tibetan Buddhism had become an increasingly significant part of his life
during this time, and in 1999 he participated in a month-long Lamrim retreat at Kopan Monastery outside
of Katmandu. Shortly thereafter he met Geshe Michael Roach and soon moved to Arizona as the main building
contractor for the development of Diamond Mountain, Geshe Michael's retreat center and academy for the
advanced study of Tibetan Buddhism.

In June 2010 he graduated with honors from Diamond Mountain after completing an accelerated four-year
course that condenses the traditional 20-year Geshe program at a Tibetan monastery, a seven-year course of
Tantric studies, and hundreds of hours of seminars in Yoga philosophy based on new translations.

He has traveled extensively in Asia and the Himalayas and has taught Tibetan Buddhism and Yoga
philosophy since 2005.

Sarah Tomlinson shares the spiritual practice of working with Yantras and Ayurveda, the
science of life, from extensive time in India with her teacher Harish Johari. Knowing how your
daily rituals of eating, moving, sleeping and interacting with the world can work in harmony with you
can bring about an experience of wholeness. Sarah explores this through her teaching and consulting work.
She is one of the first yoga teachers to be trained in the Jivamukti Yoga Method by
David Life and Sharon Gannon.

Sarah developed the Ancient Ayurveda Yoga Series, producing an internationally acclaimed DVD
of the same name. Sarah's approach to asana is informed by her studies with Diane Long in the tradition
of Vanda Scaravelli and the exploration of Swara Yoga as taught by Harish Johari (science of breath).
Sarah teaches Ma Yoga — prenatal yoga created by Mia Borgatta, to prepare mothers both for their
birthing process and as a preparation for motherhood. Sarah is the author of Nine Designs For Inner Peace,
Inner Traditions Publishing, 2008, YANTRATECTURE.COM.

In the Sarva Yoga Academy Sarah will teach you how to begin to feel comfortable,
respectful and aligned with your own physical tendencies. Diet, movement and lifestyle suggestions
will be given based on your individual requirements. Knowing your fluctuations and the simple
remedies you need to bring about balance will help keep your body and mind in their optimum relationship
for deepening your spiritual practices.
